This is a simple tutorial for anyone using a Donor Advised Fund through Deseret Trust Company. The site is not the most intuitive, so hopefully this helps. If you don’t know what a DAF is for, you can read more about it here. If you still need to fund it and wish to do so with appreciated securities (stocks, ETFs, bonds, etc), you can read more here.

Navigation

On the left hand side of the page you will see the Donor Dashboard, pictured below:

Deseret Trust Company Donate through a DAF

Click on Recommend Grants.

You can go through the list, or search by keyword. Once you have selected one, it will then appear in your “Grantee List.”

You have the choice of single or recurring payments

Decided on a single or recurring payment, choose an amount over $100 and give it a purpose if you want. You can also make it anonymous, but if you are paying tithing, I don’t recommend this.

Recent Grants

Finally, once you have submitted your first grant, the recent grant section appears on the main page. You can see your recent grants, their date and amount and then easily repeat or create a new grant from there.

Conclusion

Anyone else out there using Deseret Trust Company? It is geared towards members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, but is a viable option for those not of that faith.

Fidelity, Charles Schwab and Vanguard also have donor advised funds available.
